It was such a Turkish delight to walk into the streets of the Spice Bazaar. Colorful palettes of spices, scents and sweets. Pure joy to simply walk the isles of stores -spices, dried flower teas, all natural soaps, golden honey bee combs, pistachios, chestnuts, walnuts, fine silks, soft cashmeres, colorful pashminas , exquisite fine gemstones gold and silver hand made jewelries, gourmet cheese, aged wines and more. We could spend the entire day in the market !
Aromatheraphy in Food- Turkish delight or lokum is a gel like candy flavored with rose water, bergamot, orange or lemon and mastic gum. Some varieties include dates and other fruits, nuts such as pistachios, hazel nuts or walnuts. Colorful and tasteful, these desserts are sure to capture your taste buds because of its unique color, flavors, scents and textures .
The highlight of the trip was the discovery of pure essential oils from Frankincense to the highest note of Rose Oil. We bought 3 grams of Rose oil only at $40 in which 1/8 drum would be more than a $100 the least .
Çaydanlık is a Turkish tea pot. This two layered tea pot creates a perfect way to slow steam dried tea flowers and leaves . By using low heat to gently simmer herbs while capturing the flavor from the extractions, essential oils or elixir is a perfect way to enjoy a cup of tea with your Turkish delight or baklava.
In Turkey, drinking tea is part of their social gatherings. Herb flavored teas are high in anti oxidants, vitamins, minerals and they are medicinal in nature. It is a great remedy for almost any ailments. There are so many varieties of herb teas that you can enjoy.
