Women Empowering Communities, Conserving Our Seas

Our heartfelt thanks to all the incredible women of Barangay Quilitisan who joined our Kapihan ng mga Kababaihan. We are deeply grateful that you took time from your many roles—as wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, caregivers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders—to be part of this meaningful conversation.

Together, we reflected on the vital role women play in strengthening our families and local economy. More importantly, we explored how our talents, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit can create sustainable livelihoods while helping protect the natural resources that sustain us.

Healthy seas, thriving mangroves, and well-managed Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are more than environmental treasures—they are the foundation of Calatagan’s fisheries, ecotourism, and future opportunities. By creating locally made wellness products inspired by our culture, coastal heritage, and natural resources, we are demonstrating that marine conservation and livelihood can grow hand in hand.

When our oceans flourish, our communities flourish. Every product created, every visitor welcomed, and every conservation effort supported helps build a stronger local economy while encouraging the protection of the marine ecosystems that make Calatagan unique.

We are proud to announce that during Mind and Body Wellness Week (December 28, 2026 – January 3, 2027), the women of Quilitisan will proudly showcase wellness and locally crafted products made in Calatagan. This celebration will highlight the power of women-led entrepreneurship, sustainable tourism, community pride, and environmental stewardship.

Together, we are proving that empowering women is also an investment in healthy oceans, resilient communities, and a more sustainable future for the next generation.
