SUCCESS BUILT BY COMMUNITY — THANK YOU, CALATAGAN!- Close to 400 volunteers. Three Marine Protected Areas. Over 350 sacks of trash collected. One community coming together for one sea.

The SURFACE TO SEAFLOOR™ Marine Protected Area Clean-Up was a success because so many people chose to come together with one purpose: to serve our community and protect our sea.

A very special thank you to the Philippine Coast Guard Sub-Station Calatagan, particularly PO1 Remar Mendoza and his team, for working closely with St. Michael throughout the planning and implementation of this initiative. From countless discussions on logistics and operational requirements to safety measures and coordination on clean-up day, your leadership, time, and commitment helped make this effort possible.

Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to Barangay Sta. Ana Chairman Sonny Eguia for graciously hosting our meetings and providing assistance
whenever possible, and to Barangay Tanagan and Barangay Bagong Silang for their cooperation and support in mobilizing their respective clean-up sites.

To the many government agencies, barangays, fisherfolk organizations, civic groups, schools, teachers, students, community organizations, partners, and individual volunteers who gave their time—not only on clean-up day but throughout the weeks of planning and preparation—WE VERY MUCH APPRECIATE YOU.

Together, close to 500 volunteers simultaneously cleaned three Marine Protected Areas and collected over 350 sacks of marine and coastal debris. This was truly a community effort.
