The Art of Distillation

UNLOCKING THE POWER OF SCENTS
We’re thrilled to have had the privilege of a one-on-one distillation masterclass with the esteemed experts, Ms. Raghda A. Maksoud (Egypt) and Ms. Ginger Adro (New Jersey), from the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) Board of Directors.
This enlightening session delved into the intricacies of distillation, revealing the secrets to achieving higher yields, proper care and storage of essential oils, and the potential risks of improper dilution.
We had the opportunity to distill over 10 pounds of combined lavender and fennel leaves, yielding 5 ml of precious oil over a period of 3 hours, filling the room with a captivating fragrance.
Distillation is not just an art, but a science that requires a deep understanding of the process of converting liquids into vapors and back into liquids.
The primary forms of distillation used for oils include hydrodistillation, steam distillation, and fractional distillation, each with its unique benefits and applications.
By mastering these techniques, we can unlock the full potential of essential oils and harness their transformative power.
